Our current food systems need to be redesigned because they contribute nearly one-third of the world’s greenhouse gas emissions, use a lot of natural resources, reduce biodiversity, have a negative impact on health (due to both under- and overnutrition), and prevent equitable economic returns and means of subsistence for all parties involved, especially primary producers.
